Election Day...Mardi Gras...Together at Last

Living Liberally invites you to practice party politics with food, comedy & election results with Super Fat Tuesday -- a Mardi Gras and Super Tuesday results watch party.

On Tuesday February 5th America learns the primary results for New York, California, and 22 additional states. And it's Mardi Gras. Progressive partiers and partisans will be celebrating around the country with like-minded, left-leaning, libation-lifting company.

These free events around the country take many forms: New Orleans-themed food from Eating Liberally; comedic commentary from Laughing Liberally; fundraisers for New Orleans reconstruction efforts; Victory/Concession Speech Bingo; State-by-State Betting Pools (with beads as prizes, of course); and the classic Drinking Liberally drinking games.

Why Super Fat Tuesday? Maybe it's our conviction that politics is celebratory and Election Days are holidays...or a reminder on a media-crazed day that an American city still needs our help...or a comment on the excesses of the campaign season...everyone finds their own 'super fat' reason to mark February 5th.

Super Fat Tuesday parties are also being hosted by partner groups: Democrats Work in Seattle and Forward Montana in Missoula...and the list is growing.

In New York City, join us at The Tank at 279 Church Street -- Tuesday Feb 5th from 7pm onward.

Why does it just have to be a Liberal thing? Conservatives can drink, laugh, and party just as hard as anyone else. Fat Tuesday has no political leaning, and neither should Super Fat Tuesday. It's a good idea!

because "drinking conservatively" doesn't sound so fun...

seriously, though, you are right -- i hope folks of all stripes celebrate election day. and if a conservative wanders into our party, we won't chase him or her out. in fact, it's our belief, that if you share a few drinks with us, you'll become a liberal.

Tucson James, survey says:

"Because conservatives get drunk while liberals discuss headily over drinks!" We of the reality- and fact-based community prefer some grit with our alcohol! If you start hanging out with us (and stop listening to Rush Limbag et al), your eyes will open. You will be happier, healthier and WAY more informed!!!

Tuscon James: based on ideology, drinking liberally is more likely to be like everyone going in on the cost of a pitcher of beer and sharing it.

drinking conservatively would be more like a few people buying top shelf bottles of liquor and the rest of the bar drinking out of individual bottles, coveting the nice booze being drunk in the booth by the rich guys.

one sounds like more fun to me.

conservatives don't share.
